Clear Southern grade Pine has a formal name, C & Better, and you may see some marketing terms such as Select or Prime. In fact, those terms are 100% designed to raise the price because they offer useless information, even contradictions. You see, the word select is short for hand selected. That is not confusing but what you may not have considered is that there are no machines to detect knots or sort boards based on heart content. That being said, all Clear grade Southern Pine floors are hand selected or selected with a big metal rod in someones hand.
Clear Southern Pine and Heart pine are available in 1 x 4 vertical grain
Read this slowly, vertical grain Clear Pine has no heartwood or knots, vertical heart pine may have some knots and they are both only available in 1 x 4, normally.
